Shahaf Predilailo was born in 1986 in Kibutz Gvulot in Israel. She studied at "Bezalel Academy of Art and Design" in Jerusalem, in the department of Ceramics and Glass design. As part of her studies she completed one semester at "Kunstuniversitat" in Linz, Austria. After researching traditional material such as glass and ceramics, she then turned, as a professional artist, to the ephemeral and provisional of materials like paper and salt. Since she finished her studies in 2014 the artist has been mounting installations and exhibiting her works in different sites throughout Israel.

The materials I choose to work with are usually utilized in everyday life. I search ways to use them differently in order to test the way they react to external influences like heat or liquids.  My creation is perishable; changes its character with time and usually collapse, break, rip off or melt at some point.  Time takes place as a subject for me, as it affects the duration of the works. When developing an installation project I like to consider the space which the works will be in. As a result of that, they depend on the specific site surrounding them. The acts I use to construct my pieces are usually simple and repetitive. I investigate the materials with the tips of my fingers. It has to be done in a subtle way, carefully and at full attention.
